ComposiMold-Flex

REUSABLE MOLD MAKING FOR SOFT CASTING MATERIALS SUCH AS SOAP, WAX, AND CHOCOLATE. FLEXIBLE AND LOW BUBBLE FORMATIONS. COMPOSIMOLD-FLEX IS A VERY FLEXIBLE, RUBBERY MOLD MAKING MATERIAL.

It is a 100% reusable mold making material that works by melting and pouring. Many casts can be made using the same mold. It is an excellent material for those wanting to learn and become involved in mold making without having to worry about mistakes or wasting material. ComposiMold-Flex is a flexible, rubbery, thermoplastic that is great for parts that require a more flexible mold making material. It is compatible with many different casting materials including clays, plaster, cement, epoxy, polyurethane, and many others.

ComposiMold-Flex is food Safe!

ComposiMold-Flex is a 100% Reusable, Eco-friendly Rubber (biopolymer) made from non-petroleum based materials (safe for you and the environment!) that is certified safe for food contact!

ComposiMold-Flex is Perfect For:

  • Agressive undercuts

  • Delicate parts

  • And most other projects

It's Shore Hardness is approximately 3A at 70 F. Color is semi-transparent light orange. Melting temperature is 130 F. The part solidifies when the temperature cools. To speed up cooling, place the mold in the refrigerator or freezer.

ComposiMold is a 100% Reusable Mold Making Material. Take the fuss out of mold making. You never have to worry about wasting the product or your money. If you want a different mold all you have to do is remelt the ComposiMold and start fresh!

ComposiMold is Versatile and Easy to Use.
You can use many different mold making techniques such as one part, two part, pourable, and paint-on molds.  It is great for learning to mold, making many unique molds, and as a mold backing material.

ComposiMold is Natural and Biodegradeable.
All ingredients used in ComposiMold are organic materials that will biodegrade when left in an aqueous environment. Although, the reusability means you won’t need to dispose of the ComposiMold, it is compostable!

MELTING ComposiMold: To melt, heat the ComposiMold to 130ºF. (Do not exceed 200ºF). This can be done in a double boiler or a microwave. When heating in the microwave start with short intervals of 30 seconds. The 6oz. container should take about 45 seconds to fully melt.

After melting, stir the ComposiMold gently to let the temperature equilibrate and cool before pouring your mold. It’s perfect when it has a warm honey-like consistency at (130ºF-140ºF).

CREATING Your Mold: Use clay or hot glue to anchor your original shape to the bottom of your mold box. Spray a food safe mold release, such as vegetable oil, on the original object being molded (the master) and in the heat safe container you’ll be pouring your melted ComposiMold into (mold box). Pour melted ComposiMold into the lowest area of your mold box so it will rise up and over your master part.

SOLIDIFYING Your Mold: Simply let your mold cool. ComposiMold solidifies when it cools back to a flexible, rubbery, polymer.  (To speed up to the process, you can put your mold in the refrigerator.)

De-mold your master by pulling it out or make a cut down the side of the mold and open it like a book. Tape it closed before you make your cast.

CREATING Your Cast: Use chocolate, fondant, gum paste, or other edible treats for your casting material.

Melt chocolate and pour into your mold. You can brush an initial layer of chocolate into the mold  to fill any gaps or crevices before pouring to fill the mold.

For fondant or gum paste, you may want to use a little powdered sugar to help release from the mold. Push the fondant into the mold.

If necessary, place the mold in the refrigerator to solidify the fondant prior to removing. Do not leave the fondant in the mold overnight.

Once solidified, remove your cast from your ComposiMold mold.

ComposiMold’s greatest advantage is it’s reusability. All you have to do is remelt your mold and pour a new one!

CLEANING the ComposiMold:
ComposiMold can be cleaned with a cold, wet wash cloth. DO NOT SUBMERGE IN HOT WATER. You can also filter the ComposiMold through a cheese cloth to remove any larger debris.

Warnings: -ComposiMold is hot when melted. Use gloves for protection. -The ComposiMold container WILL melt if overheated. Do not heat the container when it is empty. -ComposiMold will break down in water over time. Do not leave in contact with water. -Keep ComposiMold covered if it is not going to be used for long periods of time. -ComposiMold conforms to ASTM D-4236 for safe art supplies. -Do not use ComposiMold for food contact after it has been used with non-food casting materials.

Limitations: Although the thermoplastic nature of ComposiMold allows it to be reusable and easily moldable, heat is a limitation.  In larger thermoset reactions the heat of your casting material can exceed the melting point of ComposiMold, 130ºF. Be sure to cool your mold prior to using higher temperature casting materials.
