Sculpey and Fimo Polymer Clay REVIEW
Sculpey and Fimo man clays are used for modelling, jewellery design and prototype work because of the colours, flexibility, ease of shaping and permanence. Like natural clays they can be rolled, shaped and have designs imprinted in them, however they do not crumble and can be hardened once the design modelling has been completed, by heating in a home oven.
Polymer clays are very sensitive to heat and the warmth of your hands can be sufficient to soften the clay for modelling purposes. When heated to between 93?C and 135?C polymer clay will harden so keep the clay out of direct sunlight when not in use.
Which brand of clay to use comes down to a matter of personal choice. We use and stock what we consider to be the two best brands of polymer clay for our own design choice, often using both brands in the same project. Soetimes the selection is made on the basis of colour, other times it is the degree of firmness required straight out of the packet that is the determining factor.

Fimo Soft Polymer Clay
Fimo Soft is ideal for children, due to the fact it is soft straight out of the packet. It is also ideal for the elderly or for those with hand problems. However when doing detailed design work, it is preferable to use a firmer clay.
Sculpey - Original
Sculpey Original is a soft clay and is the most inexpensive polymer clay, available in bulk packets in a white colour only. It is not very strong and is used mainly for items that will be painted.
Super Sculpey
Super Sculpey is a very soft clay available in bulk packets in a pink/beige colour. It is the preferred clay for dollmakers and original model sculptors due to its ease of use and its much greater strength than Sculpey.
Super Sculpey Living Doll
Super Sculpey Living Doll is a professional polymer clay designed for dollmakers. It is made in 3 colours beige, brown and light. When heated to 130?C for 15 minutes for each 6mm of thickness, the dolls are strong , lifelike and durable.
